Lifestyle
Live where the fairway is your backyard
SWFL has golf at every level, from championship signature courses to laid-back bundled communities. Buying into golf involves a lot more than the course, though. Membership structure, transfer fees, equity vs. bundled access and a club’s financial health all shape how you live and what the home is worth when you sell.
We sort it out with you: which communities include golf in the HOA fees, which need a separate equity membership, where the waitlists are, and which homes carry a fairway premium that’s worth paying.
The Shortlist
Ten standout golf courses in Southwest Florida
Southwest Florida has one of the highest concentrations of golf holes per capita in the country, so any "best of" list is going to start an argument. These ten have the strongest reputations and come up most often in our conversations with buyers. Know them before you pick a community.
An editorial shortlist, not a scored ranking. Access matters as much as the course, and several of these require an equity membership that trades separately from the home.
-
Calusa Pines Golf Club Naples
Famously private and famously unusual. The club moved enormous amounts of earth to build real hills on flat ground. Golf Digest ranked it 20th on its 50 Greatest Courses Built Since 2000, higher than any other Florida course on the list.

-
Tiburón Golf Club Naples
A Greg Norman design at the Ritz-Carlton, with stacked sod-wall bunkers and no conventional rough. The Gold and Black courses have tournament history, and resort guests can still get a tee time. That’s rare for championship golf.

Old Corkscrew Golf Club Estero
A Jack Nicklaus design routed through cypress, pine and wetland that rewards accuracy over distance. There are no homes on the course, which is unusual for this region. And that’s exactly why people make the drive.
